Lancope Elects Former SPI Dynamics CEO Brian Cohen as Non-Executive ChairmanCohen Brings Technology and Enterprise Security Leadership Experience to Lancope
ATLANTA, GA – May 17, 2010 – Lancope, Inc., the leader in NetFlow™ collection and analysis and the provider of the StealthWatch® System for flow-based network performance and security monitoring, today announced that independent board member Brian Cohen has been elected non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. Cohen steps into this role, which was previously held by Harland LaVigne, who retired after serving as chairman, president and CEO since 2002.
As non-executive chairman, Cohen expands his role on Lancope’s Board of Directors and provides support to and collaboration with Lancope’s recently appointed president and CEO, Mike Potts.
Cohen brings to Lancope more than 30 years of executive leadership in technology, spanning Internet, IT networking and security solutions companies. He served as president and CEO at SPI Dynamics, one of the industry’s first and largest Web application security companies, which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in August 2007. Under his leadership, SPI Dynamics was recognized as one of the fastest growing technology companies in North America for four consecutive years (2003-2006) and was included in the Inc. 500 in 2005 and 2006.
Prior to SPI Dynamics, Cohen founded Technologic in 1992, a pioneer in firewall security appliances, and served as president and CEO until 1999, when the company merged with eSoft. Cohen has also served in executive management positions with Management Matters, a private investment and consulting company, and Dun & BradStreet Software and Management Science America, a global leader in enterprise software and services.
“As networks become more complex and the flood of data traversing the network continues to multiply, organizations require increased visibility to maintain network availability and security,” said Cohen. “I’m delighted to support the board and team at Lancope.”
“Lancope will continue to advance its existing product portfolio and pursue strategic growth under Mike’s leadership and with Brian’s support,” added Eric Young, general partner with Canaan Partners and Lancope board member. “Brian’s technology and business acumen complement Mike’s leadership skills. Together, they have an impressive history of managing companies with explosive growth and their collective experience is a huge asset for Lancope.”
