Nexidia Awarded 10th U.S. Patent for Original Research in Audio SearchLatest Addition to Intellectual Property Portfolio Strengthens Company's Position as Leading Inventor of Core Technology for Business Applications in Speech Analytics

ATLANTA, GA – August 23, 2010Nexidia, the market-leading provider of audio search and speech analytics solutions, today announced its 10th United States Patent Award for original research, reinforcing its position as the leading inventor of audio search and speech analytics technology. This latest award adds to the company’s family of patents covering phonetic indexing and search technology. Nexidia has built its business by applying this technology to develop unique applications serving target markets such as the contact center, rich media, legal and government sectors. In addition, Nexidia also works with premier software developers who have integrated these capabilities into their own products.

Fundamental to Nexidia’s patented approach is the phonetic indexing and search process (U.S Patent No. 7,263,484). This process creates an accurate, time-aligned phonetic representation of all the speech contained in any type of recording or real-time audio stream. The benefits of this technology are that it is highly scalable – a single server can process more than 50,000 hours of audio per day – and that it provides the most accurate results possible for any type of audio search. Coupled with Nexidia’s patented query capability (U.S. Patent No. 7,406,415), which uses Boolean and time-based operators for searching unstructured audio content, this technology is the foundation for Nexidia’s Enterprise Speech Intelligence (ESI) product suite which helps contact centers improve first call resolution, lower average handle times and improve agent performance and productivity. In 2010 Nexidia ESI was named Speech Technology Magazine’s Market Winner for Speech Analytics for the 4th consecutive year; Nexidia ESI also garnered the 2010 New Product Innovation award from Frost & Sullivan.

Nexidia’s phonetic indexing and search technology brings strong benefits to markets beyond the contact center. Because of its high processing capacity and accuracy of search results, Nexidia has become a leading provider of audio discovery products for legal and regulatory review, with numerous clients including large corporations, AmLaw 200 firms and regulatory agencies such as the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). And with its software publishing partner AV3, Nexidia recently launched ‘get’, a software plug-in for Apple Final Cut Pro that uses phonetic search to dramatically streamline the process of editing video content. AV3 ‘get’ was named Best-In-Show by DV Magazine at the 2010 National Association of Broadcasters event for innovation in video editing.

Nexidia’s patent portfolio includes other technologies that leverage the phonetic indexing and search method to create unique value in the market place. One of these is transcript synchronization (U.S. Patent No. 7,231,351), which synchronizes written transcripts with audio and video recordings. Used every day by thousands of customers in the legal and rich media markets, it supports faster search and analysis of content and improves efficiency both for legal review of material and the editing and production of rich media content. Nexidia transcript synchronization is the engine behind the ScriptSync® component of Avid’s Media Composer application, which has won numerous honors including the TV Technology STAR 2007 award for Superior Technology.

“Nexidia invests continually in research and development to improve and extend our fundamental technology,” said John Willcutts, president and chief executive officer of Nexidia. “This dedication to technical innovation is what drives real business results for our customers and partners, and it is what has made us successful in the marketplace.”

Nexidia technology is specifically designed to handle audio and video content from around the world. Nexidia currently supports more than 30 languages, and the phonetic indexing process is tuned to account for poor quality audio, speaker accents, and other variables that commonly reduce the accuracy of traditional audio search methods. In addition, Nexidia can integrate with practically any type of existing audio recording system and provides native support for more than 20 different audio encodings and file formats.
