Joseph B. Cortina Managing Director & Head of Government Affairs

Joseph B. Cortina is a Managing Director and Head of Government Affairs, based in Washington, DC. Joseph manages political, regulatory, and legislative risks and opportunities for the firm and supports H.I.G.’s portfolio companies on a variety of government-related matters.

Prior to joining H.I.G., Joseph was Vice President of Global Government Affairs at Standard Industries, where he worked across Standard’s operating companies. Prior to Standard Industries, Joseph was a Principal at Sternhell Group. Previously, Joseph also served as an aide to then-House Democratic Whip, Steny Hoyer.

Joseph earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.
